Well no offence but I don't want to be like you
I've heard a lot of stories and I've read a lot of books and they have all helped me decide on what to do
Life is just a tight rope and we're going for a walk
But if we slip and fall off we just have to get back up and start again
So let's sing songs about the people that we love
Then let us all make sure that they've all heard the words we've sung
There's nothing worse than telling someone something they don't want to hear
Especially when you want to make them happy
And we all want to be happy
In my defense, I just didn't know what to say
I've watched one too many movies based on real life events and that's partial cause for who I am today
See life is just a mountain and we're going on a hike
And it might take us ages but eventually we'll make it to the top
So let's sing songs about the people that we love
Then let us all make sure that they've all heard the words we've sung
There's nothing worse than telling someone something they don't want to hear
Especially when you want to make them happy
And we all want to be happy
We've finally seen the places that we want to see
We've read the books that we told ourselves we'd always read
Now take my hand, we'll make it to the top
We've finally felt the warm embrace of apathy
We've been the people we were put upon this earth to be
Now take my hand, we'll make it to the top
That's where we want to be
So let's sing songs about the people that we love
Then let us all make sure that they've all heard the words we've sung
There's nothing worse than telling someone something they don't want to hear
Especially when you want to make them happy
And we all want to be happy

The Maths

I remember finding out that Santa Claus was fake
And since that day I've nursed a broken heart
It's not the fact that we're all raised on lies that makes me angry
It's the lies we're told that set us all apart
It's the lies we're told that set us all apart
We're often putting too much faith into the sky
When it rains we'll only end up wet
I watched the weather, there's a good chance there will be lightning
We should probably go inside before we're dead
I've always known that one and one make two
The thing I've never figured out is how to lie to you
I sacrificed my childhood for the sake of being smart
Now I only speak in metaphor
Summer is the time we need to pick shapes out of clouds
Because in winter there's just way too many more
In winter there's just way too many more
We're often putting too much faith into the sky
When it rains we'll only end up wet
I watched the weather, there's a good chance there will be lightning
We should probably go inside before we're dead
I've always known that two and two make four
The thing I've never figured out is how to ask for more
I've always know that three and three make six
The thing I've never figured out is how to get my fix of you
And I've always known that four and four make eight
But by the time I figure that one out it's always way too late

Swords

Hold onto the things you believe in as tight as you can
It's just a matter of time until somebody lies and you start doubting yourself again
There's a factory processing bullshit inside of your brain
A sweat shop in mind where a woman and child are worked to the bone every hour to survive
We all stand together with our swords in the sky
It's always worth fighting with friends at our side
And the fact of the matter is that I cannot do this without you
It's starting to seem like I'm destined to fail
But I can't afford to tell myself that every day
As I said, I can't do this without you
I don't understand how you are not world famous yet
The way you break hearts is a well refined art and it's one that I'd rather forget
I'm starting to feel like I'm destined to spend life alone
But good friendships have died to keep others alive and those are the friends that I hold at my side when...
We all stand together with our swords in the sky
It's always worth fighting with friends at our side
And the fact of the matter is that I cannot do this without you
It's starting to seem like I'm destined to fail
But I can't afford to tell myself that every day
As I said, I can't do this without you
Surely the best way to let loved ones go is to just suck it up and say I'm letting you go
There are reasons for doing this that only I know and I don't want to explain them because you don't want to know
You take a step backwards, give loved ones time and you make sure you stay out of sight, out of mind
We all stand together with our swords in the sky
It's always worth fighting with friends at our side
And the fact of the matter is that I cannot do this without you
It's starting to seem like I'm destined to fail
But I can't afford to tell myself that every day
As I said, I can't do this without you
I can't do this without you
I can't do this without you my friend

Man in the Sky

One day, while trying to figure out the square root of pi
I saw a man in the sky who had tears in his eyes
So I asked him, why are you crying
He told me he found out that the whole world was dying
Well I said this is really quite odd
If you're up in the sky well then surely you are God
And surely you can stop all these bad things from happening
He said we all know what's right
But sometimes we forget because we're holding on too tight
It's hard to let go
When the world's just not as safe as it was before
One day, while I was going for a walk down the road
I saw a man who had holes in his clothes but he was happy
So I asked him, why are you smiling
He told me he found out that the whole world was dying
Well I said I'm not sure how I feel
If you're glad about that then you're too full of evil
We should try to stop all these bad things from happening
He said we all know what's right
But sometimes we forget because we're holding on too tight
It's hard to let go
He said we all know what's right
But sometimes we forget because we're holding on too tight
And it's hard to let go
When the world's just not as safe as it was before
